Mississippi regulators have approved xAI's permit to construct a 41-turbine natural gas power plant in Southaven, despite vocal opposition from community groups and environmental organizations. The facility will support xAI's expanding data center operations, including the newly announced Macrohardrr project.

The NAACP and Southern Environmental Law Center are preparing legal action, alleging violations of the Clean Air Act. Local residents report existing disturbances from temporary turbines, citing noise and air quality concerns. xAI, now merged with SpaceX under a $1.25 trillion valuation, maintains the project exceeds regulatory requirements.
